Take care my friends.....peace to you all
Hello Everyone- This blog started out about sailing ZOSHA, our WESTSAIL 28 from Galveston,Texas to Florida, the Bahamas, and beyond. Regrettably we are not now able to do that. We will still travel the old bluesphere from our home in Mexico and hope you will check in on us now and then for some interesting tales full of chills, thrills, and adventure. Thanks for reading our blog. My girlfriend is Tana and I'm Rich... Peace to you all..seeya

All Tied Up.............
Boaters are a breed of character that are similar and different at the same time. We all have a common tie to Mother Ocean and at the same time are divided by our particular maritime prejudices, opinions, inclinations, procedures, and practices. We have earned the the right to our proclivities and are certainly entitled to express each of them to our hearts content without criticism from self described sailing pundits and/or sailing Forum-Holes. Today while strolling down good ole K Dock looking at the deck cleats on the dock, it dawned on me that we all have unique concepts of what securing our babies to the dock entails. None of us wants our maritime paramours to come to harm while we are away so we tie them down in a manner that eases any concern in our hearts for their safety when they face natures perils in our absence.
Don't Tread on Me- # 7-Makin' a Little Progress
The Port side deck is now sporting the new non-skid.....looks pretty good if you ask me.....
Looking forward from cockpit.....
View from foredeck aft towards cockpit.....
Close Up look see...........
With the port side deck done, we are moving forward to the fore deck....got a portion of it primed before the weather went to crap! Today is Thursday Feb 27, 2014.....the next three days look somewhat promising to get the foredeck done....I'll letya know....
Gimme a couple of days of good weather and this foredeck will be beautiful....until then....

I can't feel my toes...........
While writing this the outside temp just warmed up from 38 to 39 degrees F. . The wind is blowing about 15 or so....so who knows what the real temp is with the wind chill factored in? There's a bone chilling ice cold drizzle falling. Yesterday there was snow in some parts of town. One thing is for sure though, no boat work is going to get done today. Again! Now you guys that live in the Northern and Eastern climes where it REALLY gets cold must think we are all a bunch of cry babies down here. Heck 39 degrees in Minnesota or Michigan or North Dakota or Upstate New York is probably a balmy day..... you guys don't even wear a coat do ya?. All I can say is..."my friends, I tip my Corona cap to you all. I couldn't last 5 minutes up in your cold. You guys are Supermen and Superwomen and Superkids. Here's TO YA........
Wasn't it just a few days ago when I was bragging on how perfect our weather was and how it was like San Diego? Yup....it was on January 20th....I just checked. Since that little window of good weather in the high 70's and low 80's when the non-skid project flew toward completion...........
This is what can happens with three or four days of good weather in a row.....stuff gets done! Nice Huh??
This is a huge project that has to be done in sections....the paint and primer used is time and temperature sensitive and the non skid itself is somewhat difficult and time consuming to apply. The result is that you can't take on a too big section of deck at one time.
The next segment is the port sidedeck..........
The deck is ready to go....it just has to be cleaned real good. All the scraping, filling and sanding is done....has been for months. I need one day to wash, dry, tape, and prime the deck with 2 coats; another 3 days in a row for one coat of non skid per day....lets see that's 4 days of good weather with no rain, temp is over 50 degrees F and preferably little wind. Just checked the 10 day forecast: February 12-16th look good. I'll letcha know what happens.
Today wasn't a total non-event...this gas price was a pleasant surprise....I filled er up.....
Take care my friends....hope you're warm and toasty....
